CUNA Lending Council Scholarship Fund

Current running total: $783,792

The Credit Union philosophy is all about making sure that each and every credit union in the movement has the resources necessary to serve their members. That’s why the CUNA Lending Council launched the CUNA Lending Council’s Scholarship Fund.

The leadership of the CUNA Lending Council firmly believes that it’s in the best interest of the industry as a whole to ensure that those in the lending function have the resources and expertise to succeed. That’s why in 1998 the Council began providing a limited number of scholarships to individuals that might not otherwise be able to afford schools, institutes and conferences that are focused on credit union lending practices.

In an effort to give more back to the profession and the industry, we’ve established the CUNA Lending Council Scholarship Fund, which will be housed at the National Credit Union Foundation. The National Credit Union Foundation provides investment management and administrative services for the Scholarship Fund.

With a goal of collecting $1 million, the fund will ensure that we can provide staff from smaller credit unions with access to resources that will sharpen their professional skills.

The Scholarship Process
A scholarship committee made up of CUNA Lending Council Executive Committee members selects recipients based on asset size, skills need, and financial need. Credit unions up to $50 million in assets are eligible to apply. Scholarship requests must be for CUNA Lending Council Conferences, Center for Professional Development Schools/Institutes, lending specific Webinars, and other lending related coursework not offered through CPD. Full-time employees at institutions that are troubled can also apply for this scholarship.
