Member Spotlight: Alan Zetterberg
Alan Zetterberg is chief lending officer for Colorado Springs Credit Union in Colorado Springs. Born in Augusta, Georgia, Alan was raised most of his life in Colorado Springs. “I went from a Georgia Peach to a Purple Mountain Majesty,” says Alan. “I am married with four sons and one grandson. Yes, life is good.”
His previous six years were spent doing credit union marketing and business development before becoming a chief lending officer. His 18-year career in the credit union industry has included positions such as collections, branch management, and vice president of operations. He is also a CUNA Management School graduate (2005). Biggest challenge Membership growth, loan retention, and branding. Best advice If you work hard, you can achieve anything! Always set your sites beyond the most current! Live life and enjoy!! Greatest benefit of Council membership I was associated with the Marketing & Business Development Council for six years. It is the BEST networking tool you can have. I am confident that I will get the same satisfaction and welcome from the Lending Council. Best part of my job The people and having paid holidays. I have worked at a bank, finance company, and savings and loan. Credit unions rock! We are the most down-to-earth and people-friendly financial organization out there. Hardest part of my job The challenges in the industry. Trying to offer the "best" deal without having the CFO wondering what we are doing. Watching loans pay off and not catching them before it happens. Keeping on top of upcoming regulatory changes. Hobbies and interests Darts—I am at a Master's level. ALL Colorado sports teams. Texas Hold ‘Em. My family. Recent book For the past two months I have been reading regulatory compliance. Looking forward to the upcoming revisions! Life goal not yet accomplished Winning the lottery and retiring early. Having many grandkids to play jokes on. Making a "name" of myself for people to remember. Something that always makes me laugh Stupid people. The Bob & Tom radio show. Great friends. If I had an extra hour in the day . . . I would practice more X-Box to beat my teenage boys. Spend more time with friends. Sleep. Music in your MP3 player or iPod 80s rock and Metallica. If I could spend a day with anyone . . . I'd pick Steve Martin or Jim Carrey. They both enjoy life! How would you describe/show the credit union difference to a potential new member? Walk them out into the lobby and just ask them to observe how we treat people. CommentsPowered by Comment Script
