Agency Review to Reduce the Burden of Consumer Protection Rules

The NCUA Board has issued a request for comments to identify outdated, unnecessary, or burdensome regulatory requirements imposed on federally insured credit unions. NCUA and the other federal financial institution regulators are required by a 1996 law, the Economic Growth and Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act (EGRPRA), to review their rules at least once every ten years. The regulators are now requesting comments with regard to safety and soundness and anti-money laundering rules. Below is CUNA's Regulatory Comment Call, which provides additional information. http://www.cuna.org/regadvocacy/member/regcall/rcc_021704.html
