CU Security Issues Covered in New White Papers
Learn how to prepare for a technology audit and how to make a case for hiring a chief security officer in two new white papers (research papers/e-books), sponsored by the CUNA Technology Council. “Preparing for an NCUA Technology Audit: Making Risk Assessment a Full-Time Job” outlines the steps and procedures to strengthen information technology (IT) security and to prepare for a technology audit. The paper identifies three areas of growing weakness along with common security issues. It then outlines a security inventory process and the basic steps to prepare for an IT audit. Regulatory demands are included, along with resource links for additional information. “Credit Union Security: Making a Case for Hiring a Chief Security Officer” addresses the increases in security threats for financial institutions and the need for credit unions to protect against security breaches. The paper covers security trends at credit unions and the increases in security demand. It also explores the guidelines and objectives for making the decision to hire a security office. Finally, a selection of articles and resources are provided at the end for further review. CUNA Council members are entitled to complimentary copies of these white papers; non-members may purchase the white papers for a price of $50 per copy. The papers are available online in the white paper section of each council site - select the "Tech" tab for both white papers. CommentsPowered by Comment Script
