As I reflect on the first ten years of the CUNA Lending Council I cannot help but to think about all the hard work and creativity that has been provided by our leadership over the years. Our founding executive committee members provided a vision that has attracted over 600 credit union lending professionals to become members of the Lending Council. The personalities that have joined the Executive Committee over the years are all respected leaders in the industry with some now CEOs of credit unions.

The life of any volunteer professional organization is only as significant and robust as the leaders that volunteer their time and talent to the organization. The CUNA Lending Council is no exception, and this year is particularly important to us. We have three long-term members retiring from the council – they have served the maximum number of years and will be active members of the Council but not on the Executive Committee.

We have called for nominations and have received a few so far. I would like to see a number of you step to the front and become a part of the leadership group. I can promise you that you will be challenged, learn new things, and become a part of our history.
